The Office of Graduate Military Programs (GMP) assists military service members in obtaining advanced civilian educational degrees. As the liaison between the University of Kansas and the Department of Defense (DOD), the GMP office coordinates with the U.S. Armed Forces’ academic institutions and combatant commands to develop specialized academic programs that meet military requirements. In particular, the office works with DOD education centers such as the Army’s Command and General Staff College at nearby Fort Leavenworth to produce military and civilian faculty with the advanced degrees necessary to teach at the highest level and preserve the certifications required by regional accreditation agencies.
The office also seeks to facilitate the exchange of information, ideas, and knowledge between KU and the Armed Forces and to promote faculty and student exchanges, joint conferences and seminars, and curriculum development and research. In addition, the office takes an active role initiating and promoting veteran programs on campus. In meeting its objectives, the Office of Graduate Military Programs enhances the capacity of KU and the nation’s military and governmental organizations to serve the Nation and the world community.

Congratulations to LTC Trent Lythgoe & CPT Jared Moore for your recent publications. Trent is an instructor at the US Army's Command and General Staff College and pursuing a Ph.D. in Politcial Science. His article about how the US Army impliments mission command was recently published in the National Defense University's Joint Force Quarterly. Jared is enrolled as a graduate student in the School of Education's Educatio Leadership and Policy Studies program. His article on lessons learned from Saber Strike, an annual NATO exercise in the Baltics was recently publshed in the US Army's Armor magazine. Bravo Zulu!!
